He has had numerous solo exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world including SFMoMA, CAM, Stockholm, and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. The Guggenheim hosted a major retrospective in 1995.

 

In 2009 Ross was awarded the title of Goodwill Ambassador to the UN.
