Radcliffe Bailey
(b. 1968 NJ) lives in Atlanta, had his first solo show at The Mint Museum, NC
in 1992, and has since had scores of solo shows in museums and galleries including
Birmingham Museum of Art; Atlanta College of Art; Art Museum University of Houston;
and at Jack Shainman Gallery and Solomon Projects where he is represented. He
is in collections of so many major museums including the MET, Smithsonian, High
Museum, Corcoran, and Norton Museum of Art. He was at HVCCA in 2005-6 in Reverence with a large work entitled “Soular Taps,” the first word a beautiful
neologism, referencing Black American music. Radcliffe succeeds so well in referencing his Black roots because he is above all such an accomplished painter and sculptor.
