John Chamberlain
(b. 1927, Indiana) is among the best known living sculptors who studied with
David Smith at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Black Mountain College.
His work which echoes abstract expressionism which was the transcendent movement
when he was studying art, quickly bridged Pop Art. By 1971 he had a retrospective
at the Guggenheim and has had scores of solo shows around the world. He is represented
by Pace Wildenstein and Karsten Greve.
