Folkert de Jong

He has won several awards including the 2003 Prix de Rome.HVCCA was the 1st US institution to show Folkert (2005) in Figure It Out, and again in Reverence (2006). By now his idiosyncratic sculptures made of Styrofoam are widely known. One work in 2007 (Mount Maslow at HVCCA) was simultaneously on the cover of 4 art magazines including “Sculpture.” His work is now in many of the great museum collections.
The “Degas” piece in this auction is a major work by a major young artist.
