Jörg Herold
(b. 1965 Leipzig, Germany) studied as a stucco maker and painter in Leipzig and Berlin. In his function as ’Dokumentararchäologe" (documentary archaeologist) as Jörg Herold is calling himself, the artist is following mechanisms of remembrance, assuring, saving and researching. The task of a documentary archeologist is to show the possibilities of memory for the future and to point it out in the conflict between the aesthetic and ethic of the representation.

Recent 2008 exhibitions include "Sommer bei" EIGEN + ART, where he is represented. Other recent solo shows include Goethe Institute Brussels; National Musuem, Kabul; Stadtische Galerie der Stadt Wolfsburg. He has been in over 50 group shows around the world.

This new work at auction is a beautiful and typical example of his work.
