Ridley Howard
(b. 1973, Atlanta, GA) works in Brooklyn. He received his MFA in 1999 from Tufts University / School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA. He is the recipient of a 2006 Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, and others. Solo shows include 2007 - Groeflin Maag Galerie, Zurich; Kantor Feuer Gallery, LA; 2006 - Solomon Projects, Atlanta; Groeflin Maag Galeri; and in 2005 - Zach Feuer Gallery (LFL), NYC. Ridley has been in some twenty major group shows including in 2007–8 - Recent Acquisitions, High Museum of Art, Atlanta; XS/Recent Small Scale Painting, HVCCA that traveled to the Knoxville Museum; Chelsea Art Museum; Derek Eller Gallery, NYC; Kravets Wehby Gallery, NYC. The auction work is a wonderful example of a young realism painter who has found his métier in the same way that John Curran and Lisa Yusakavage had a decade ago. The seeming simplicity of his palette underscores his considerable skill.
