Aaron Johnson
(b. 1975, St. Paul, MN) is based in Brooklyn, NY. He received his MFA from Hunter College in 2005. He is represented by Stux Gallery, NYC where his one-person exhibit, Star-Crossed is currently on exhibit. He has had solo exhibits at Priska Juschka, NY and Mogadishni, Denmark.

Among his many group shows he has been at Marlborough Gallery, NY and 2007 "XS – Recent Small Scale Painting, and 2007-8 XXL – Recent Large Scale Painting at the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, Peekskill, NY. Johnson frequently investigates the American myth using his unique reverse-painted peeled-paint process.

The auction work, Hatchetman, is a wondrous and darkly comic narrative of a bumbling woodsman, or perhaps a warrior, in a peculiar conundrum as the phallus-hatchet he wields turns against him.
