(b. 1970 LA) received his MFA in 1997 from the University of California, LA. He has solo shows up now at Suzie Q Projects/Galerie Bob van Orsouw, Zurich. Also in 2008 a solo show at Galerie Patrick Ebensperger, Graz, and in 2007 at Rental Gallery, NY and Black Dragon Society, LA. He is represented by Black Dragon Society and Bob van Orsouw. Recent group shows have included 2007-8 XS Recent Small Scale Paintings, Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Arts, traveling exhibition to The Knoxville Museum of Art, Knoxville, TN.

The way into a painting for Charles might be a political headline and from there Charles’ thick lush oil paintings quickly take shape and are immediately recognizable; dark figurative landscapes that reference 18th and 19th painting with a 21st century attitude. In recent years he has had sold out shows with major collectors purchasing the work from across the US and western Europe.
