Cal Lane
(b. 1968 Halifax) received an MFA in 2005 from State University of New York, Purchase, NY. She is represented by Foley Gallery, NYC and has had recent solo exhibits at Foley and Art Mur, Montreal; Wynick/Tuck, Toronto, SUNY Purchase; Art Gallery of Nova Scotia; and elsewhere. She has been in numerous group exhibits including at Danziger Projects, NYC; Museum of Art and Design, NYC; Socrates Sculpture Park, NYC; and at HVCCA in 2005 where she was included in FIRST LOOK I – 15 US graduate students chosen from among 1,000 studio visits. In the HVCCA, Lane poured earth onto the museum floor onto which she stamped a filigree pattern.

In more recent work she has flayed open large oil can into the form of a cross and filigreed doily-like patterns.
