(b. 1958 Leipzig, Germany) studied at the renowned Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (1984-9) and then was a master student of Prof. Heisig.  Ulf is represented by Dogenhaus Galerie, Leipzig and Kavi Gupta, Chicago. He has had one-person exhibits in these and other galleries and in group shows worldwide including in 2008 in Future Tense: Reshaping the Landscape at Neuberger Museum, Purchase, NY, and at HVCCA where he was in both XXL – Recent Large-Scale Painting and XS – Recent Small Scale Painting.

Ulf, along with Neo Rauch are the two most influential Leipzig artists today having created a new vocabulary of Neo-realism with a surrealistic bent. For both it encompasses a personal (and differing) language, a strong narrative quality and mastery of the brush. Ulf’s enigmatic imaginary worlds of architecture and landscapes are immediately recognizable and highly sought-after.
