Savu and Adrian Ghenie are two of the leading young Romanian painters coming to international prominence. This auction work is an exquisitely painted canvas inspired by a real scene captured by the artist somewhere at the periphery of a city. Savu paints “the New Man” caught in the melancholy of his daily condition of anonymity in the transition of Communism to capitalism.
