Jeff Talman
(b. 1954, PA) studied piano and composition and directed orchestras at Columbia University and CUNY. In 1999 he began to focus almost exclusively on video and sculptural productions that relate to the nature of sound and light as primal radiant forces. Talman’s precedent-setting installations have since been produced worldwide in galleries, cathedrals, and museums. Recently “EVENT HORIZONS,” was shown at St. James Cathedral, Chicago. Other works were in Galerie Klattovy, Czech Republic, Munich; the Bavarian Forest; University Of Illinois, Seoul; Art Cologne; MIT and many more. In 2006-7 “ENDLESS COLUMNS” was the only video included in Reverence” at HVCCA. This music used is from a recording of the ambient sound of the air passing through the Cologne Cathedral. Jeff won a 2006 Guggenheim Foundation Felowship in Sound Art and has been the recent recipient of a NYFA Award and prestigious residencies in Italy, Austria, Finland, Germany Spain and the US. “MIRROR IN THE MOON,” the auction work, was presented at Villa Croce in Genoa June 2008.
