Jeff Talman
(b. 1954, PA) studied piano and composition and directed orchestras at Columbia
University and CUNY. In 1999 he began to focus almost exclusively on video and
sculptural productions that relate to the nature of sound and light as primal
radiant forces. Talman’s precedent-setting installations have since been
produced worldwide in galleries, cathedrals, and museums. Recently “EVENT
HORIZONS,” was shown at St. James Cathedral, Chicago. Other works were
in Galerie Klattovy, Czech Republic, Munich; the Bavarian Forest; University
Of Illinois, Seoul; Art Cologne; MIT and many more. In 2006-7 “ENDLESS
COLUMNS” was the only video included in Reverence” at HVCCA. This
music used is from a recording of the ambient sound of the air passing through
the Cologne Cathedral. Jeff won a 2006 Guggenheim Foundation Felowship in Sound
Art and has been the recent recipient of a NYFA Award and prestigious residencies
in Italy, Austria, Finland, Germany Spain and the US. “MIRROR IN THE MOON,” the
auction work, was presented at Villa Croce in Genoa June 2008.
