Bryan Zanisnik
(b. 1979, New Jersey) Bryan Zanisnik will complete his MFA at Hunter College.
He already has had solo shows at The Jersey City Museum (2006), Priska Juschka
Gallery (2007) and a forthcoming show at ADA Gallery in Richmond, Va. He has
participated in over 20 group shows including recently in The Mucsarnok Kunsthalle,
Budapest and the Museum of Contemporary Photography. In 2007 he was the only
video artist included in at HVCCA’s FIRST
LOOK II where he
first showed REMEMBRANCE OF THINGS PAST and FAMILY REUNION. Both videos present
his grandmother acting out various war, immigration and gangster scenarios.
The auction work, REMEMBRANCE OF THINGS PAST, is a seven minute video that
presents the artist's grandmother acting various World War II and Vietnam War
scenarios. The video was begun by the artist at the age of 13, completed and
recontextualized 14 years later. This edition is the last remaining one (ed.
5) of this important work which was generously withheld by the artist for this
event since 2007.
