Introducing the Collectors Education Program


This five part lecture series on how to collect contemporary art on a global basis will feature lectures from leaders of the contemporary art scene, and take place in the homes of celebrated collectors.

Noted Collectors of contemporary art and Founders of HVCCA will speak on how to travel the world to find the best art on the contemporary art scene. Not only will they share their experiences about their travels in collecting art, but also advice participants on the art of price negotiation.

Lecture II - Payal Chaudhri

Building an Important Collection
With a focus on contemporary Indian art, collector Payal Chaudhri welcomes participants to see her private collection. Guests will hear about the principles that guided her collecting decisions, and how she was able to build an important collection from her own art historical interests.

Lecture III - Joel & Sherry Mallin

Educate Yourself on the Contemporary Art Scene
In addition to sharing their own story, top 200 collectors Joel and Sherry Mallin will touch on the many reasons to start collecting. An informed overview of art collecting in general, this lecture will offer participants the ins and outs guide on how to begin educating yourself on the contemporary art scene.

Lecture V - John Driscoll, Mike Weiss

Finding Mentorship from the Art World
Mike Weiss, Director of Mike Weiss Gallery and John Driscoll, owner of Babcock Galleries, will offer an overview of the world art scene and its social circles . They will explain how to gain access to markets, auctions, and art fairs, as well as offering a timeline of the most important exhibitions from around the world. This closing lecture is perfect for those who want to begin collecting, but are not sure where to start.
