An Evening of Poetry in Support of After the Fall

April 9, 2011. 5:00pm

Peekskill, New York - The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (HVCCA) is proud to present an evening of poetry performance inspired by art exhibited in After the Fall: 18 Artists from Eastern & Central Europe. Participating poets have chosen particular artworks in the exhibition as inspiration for a poem or series of poems. Each respective work of art will serve as a backdrop for each performance. The audience will move from one art work to the next as the performances progress. Seating is on the floor or standing.

A CALL FOR POETRY
Interested poets and writers are invited to HVCCA on February 27th at 2:00 PM or February 28th at 4:00 PM to view After the Fall. Courtesy of an RSVP is requested.

Poets will choose one of the pieces to use as the basis for a poem or series of poems. Background material on the artists and images of the artwork will be provided. A tour of the exhibit with a member of HVCCA's staff will be available as well.

A committee will review the submitted writing anonymously, and poems will be chosen to be performed in close proximity to their chosen work of art throughout the day on April 9th, 2011.
