SPECIAL EVENTS An Evening of Poetry in Support of After the Fall
April 9, 2011. 5:00pm Peekskill, New York - The Hudson Valley Center for
Contemporary Art (HVCCA) is proud to present an
evening of poetry performance inspired by art exhibited
in After the Fall: 18 Artists from Eastern & Central
Europe. Participating poets have chosen particular
artworks in the exhibition as inspiration for a poem or
series of poems. Each respective work of art will serve
as a backdrop for each performance. The audience will
move from one art work to the next as the performances
progress. Seating is on the floor or standing.A CALL FOR POETRY Interested poets and writers are invited to HVCCA on February 27th at 2:00 PM or February 28th at 4:00 PM to view After the Fall. Courtesy of an RSVP is requested. Poets will choose one of the pieces to use as the basis for a poem or series of poems. Background material on the artists and images of the artwork will be provided. A tour of the exhibit with a member of HVCCA's staff will be available as well. A committee will review the submitted writing anonymously, and poems will be chosen to be performed in close proximity to their chosen work of art throughout the day on April 9th, 2011. Submission Guidelines: Poems may address . the artist's process, . the experience of viewing the artwork, . inspiration from paintings and their adjoining images. Submissions should include a cover sheet with title of artwork as well as contact information. Please put only the title on the poem itself. Select a standard font (Times New Roman, 11 or 12pt), and keep one poem to a page, single-spaced with double spacing between stanzas. Poets are permitted to submit up to three poems of any genre for consideration.
