Collecting Impressions Walk
Collecting Impressions, Walk 2
Saturday, October 24 at 12p
Starting Location: Gazebo at the corner of N. Division and Park streets
As part of Peekskill Project 6, artist Liene Bosquê will lead her second public participatory walk through the City of Peekskill, during which audiences are invited to make direct impressions of the built landscape with fresh blocks of clay. Using the act of walking as a mode of practice and exchange within the places we live, Bosquê will guide participants through the city’s historical architecture, focusing on buildings that have received landmark status and, more specifically, those buildings that have changed in function over several decades of use. While on this nomadic quest, Bosquê will invite participants to share stories of their communal landscape as they collectively explore commonly traversed paths in order to highlight the overlooked details of the every day, transforming the mundane into monumental. The impressions created during the walk will be added to Bosquê’s installation, Collecting Impressions, on view at 190 North Water Street.
This walk is open to all who want to participate, beginning at the gazebo downtown and lasting approximately 1-1.5 hours. No advanced notification is required to participate; all are welcome and anyone can join in or leave at any part of the walk.
