Peekskill Open Studios- Mural at Woodside
Students at Woodside Elementary School participated in a large scale mural project with artists Andrew Barthelmes, Geoff Feder, Lance Johnson and Donna Mikkelsen as part of Hudson Valley Center of Contemporary Art’s “In-School Artist Residency Program”. The program brings artists into the school to work with students to enhance and enrich their curriculum. With the support of Principal Hardiman, the staff and the PTO, the artists worked with the students to create a mural based on the wonderfully diverse community of Peekskill. Students had hands on experience working with artists, painting, collaging, drawing and writing. The Mural is open for public viewing during Peekskill’s Open Studios on Saturday, June 4th 1 pm-4 pm 612 Depew St., Peekskill.
