Writing The Walls Poetry and Prose Writing Workshop with New Era Creative Space
March 5 & 18
Sunday 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
2 Weekends, Cost $20 (+$2 online admin fees)
Writing the Walls is an opportunity to put word and art together. Writing the Walls invites writers to respond to works in the current art show at the HVCCA: BETWEEN I and THOU. A tour of the exhibit will be first, then a discussion about the work and what pieces inspire the participants to create poems or prose about the work. And then we will write.
Taught by Mara Mills
Mara Mills | Artist/Teacher
Mara, the Deputy Director of HVCCA, is a stage director, writer, and college professor. She developed the Writing the Walls Project 10 years ago at HVCCA with Westchester poets and playwrights. Writing the Walls encourages poets and writers to use artwork in the HVCCA exhibition, this year Between I and Thou, as inspiration for writing. Mara delights in working with writers of all ages and stages and is looking forward to working with New Era. This class will use brainstorming, improvisation, and imagination to create new works.
