SPECIAL EVENTS
Family Education Weekend
Saturday, December 4, 2010: Family Art Day
1:00 - 5:00 PM
 |
| On December
5, storyteller Vít Hořejš, will perform Czech & Slovak
Fairy Tales with marionette puppets. Performance is for all ages, children
and adults alike! |
Parents and children are invited to an afternoon of storytelling, mask making and collage workshopping to explore After the Fall: 18 Artists from Eastern and Central Europe. Children will be first led on a guided walking tour of After the Fall to explore narrative through the fairytales of different cultures, and then take part in interactive storytelling led by puppeteers. The program will culminate in children weaving these seen and heard narratives together by creating masks and collages. Workshops will be conducted in both Spanish and English, and taught by HVCCA staff and Educators. Parents are invited to work alongside their children.
Sunday, December 5, 2010: Art and Narrative through Puppetry
1:00 - 3:00 PM
In anticipation for an evening of marionette performance, children will create their own puppets.
4:00 PM
Puppeteer and Storyteller Vít Horejs, Director of The Czechoslovak-American Marionette
Theatre, will offer a performance of Czech & Slovak Fairy Tales with Strings.
In a rousing one-man show, traditional Czech fairy tales full of kings, witches,
spirits, and village maidens come to life. Horejs animates his troupe of marionettes
with dozens of voices and an array of gestures in ways both informative and fun.
