SPECIAL EVENTS THE IDES OF MARCH:
Short Plays and Poems in Multiple Voices Inspired by Circa 1986 March 15, 16: 7-8pm & March 18: 5-6pm
![]() Mara Mills & Tom Kramer co-producers and directors Ides of March, a compilation of short plays and poems by nine writers from the Hudson Valley. These written works were inspired by HVCCA's exhibition CIRCA 1986. Writers took on the challenge of writing in response to the art, highlighting the political and social tensions evident in the exhibition. HVCCA provides the setting for the theatrical presentation, performed by the authors and professional actors. Each piece will be sited in full view of the artwork that inspired the words. The audience will move through the space as the narrative unfolds, adding a dynamic component. This is the third collaboration between word and image following the successful production of Size Matters: Image and Script, 2008 and The Form of Matter, 2009. The writers, Donna Barkman, Elizabeth Burk, David Fox, Ed Friedman, Ruth Handel, Pam Hart, Gloria Lazar, Alicia Morgan, and Frank Ortega, took their inspiration from the works of Antony Gormley, Rick Prol, Damien Hirst, Richard Artschwager, Gilbert & George, Anselm Kiefer, Win Knolton, and David Wojnarowicz. Admission $12 members, $15 non-members Audience limited to 35, reserve now with credit card or check. Call 914-788-0100 or Jbrody@hvcca.org.
