KICKIN' AND SCREENIN'
Video Artists in Dialogue

Joe Diebes
Thursday, April 30th, 2009 7:00-10:00 PM

Joe Diebes creates works that converge around the categories of contemporary music, sound installation and visual art. He has been described by The New York Times as "an adventurous troupe with one foot in the world of postmodern art and the other in downtown performance." He creates sound installations, often with a substantial visual component, for art galleries, museums, and public spaces in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. His work continues to question the relationships between technology, artmaking, and a contemporary culture under the sway of a digital worldview.

"Kickin' and Screenin'"
is a four part video and performance series, held at the museum this April and May. The series will feature videos and performances by several emerging artists. Ranging in subject and technique, "Kickin' and Screenin'" will examine video and performance as media in which artists are engaging with their environment and channeling their creativity.

May 14 - Paul Clay
May 21 - Aaron Guadamuz
May 28 - Oded Hirsch

Each screening will be followed by a discussion with the artists. Beer, wine and refreshments served.

Admission: $7.50; Students, seniors and HVCCA members: $5.00.
