SPECIAL EVENTS KICKIN' AND SCREENIN'
Video Artists in Dialogue Oded Hirsch Thursday, May 28th, 2009, 7:00-10:00 PM Oded
Hirsch was born in Kibbutz Afikim, a small community in the Jordan Valley
of Israel. In recent years, Hirsch has explored several issues regarding his
place in society by a mixture of autobiographical memories and directed fictions. “My
guidance has always been the power of photographs to reflect emotional content.” Hirsch
received a B.A in photography and education in the Academy of Design in Haifa
Israel. He is currently a graduate student in the MFA department at Pratt.
Hirsch lives and works in Queens, New York.Ranging in subject and technique, “Kickin’ and Screenin’” examines video and performance as media in which artists are engaging with their environment and channeling their creativity. Kickin’ and Screenin’” is a video and performance series, which is being held at the museum during the months of April and May. The series features videos and performances by several emerging artists. Each screening is followed by a discussion with the artists. Beer, wine and refreshments served.
